I too am fascinated by methods and materials used for making all kinds of textiles and clothing. Im stuck on medieval processes right now.
May I say you are brave for embarking on shoe making by yourself and being willing to try again when the first pairs had problems. 6-7 years ago I took a week long class to learn to make my own turnshoes. Info at Laughingcrow.com
I Loved that class and have since taken several more classes from the same teacher.
I’m including a link to an extremely thorough DVD my teacher Jason Hovatter produced on making Scandinavian style Turnshoes. It includes some history, suggested tools, supplies and materials and goes through each step in the process from creating the custom pattern all the way to a completed pair of comfortable (after a breaking in period) good looking shoes. If you still want or need some good instruction on hand shoe making, this DVD is worth the price. I get nothing for recommending it. I just think it’s a great set of lessons and Jason Hovatter is a good teacher.
I will come back to read more of your posts. Thanks for the interesting info.

https://leathercraftersjournal.com/product/make-your-own-scandinavian-turnshoe/?doing_wp_cron=1665946422.7781429290771484375000Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5752234106736354936.post-8918666425662933712016-08-13T19:31:51.558+02:002016-08-13T19:31:51.558+02:00Just a small tip to get your seems tighter.
